FLEX 40 Ton R454B four-pipe

EXINDA FLEX four-pipe modular heat pump chillers deliver simultaneous heating and cooling for offices, hotels, schools, healthcare facilities and multifamily buildings. Separate hot-water and chilled-water circuits let perimeter rooms receive heating while interior spaces are cooled, without a building-wide seasonal changeover. Heat recovered from cooling is reused on the heating side, making productive use of energy that would otherwise be rejected outdoors. Combine modules to match building demand, plan phased expansion and support the transition from conventional boiler-and-chiller plants to electric heating and cooling.

Which buildings benefit most from four-pipe heat recovery?

Buildings with overlapping loads are a strong fit: offices with warm interior zones and cooler perimeter rooms, hotels with varying guest-room demand, and schools, healthcare facilities or multifamily buildings with different schedules and exposures. The key is when heating and cooling occur together, rather than the building name alone.

When should I choose four-pipe instead of two-pipe?

Choose four-pipe when some zones need heating while others need cooling. Choose two-pipe when connected zones can share a seasonal operating mode. For a retrofit, check the existing distribution pipework before choosing the arrangement.

How does heat recovery help a commercial building?

Heat removed from areas being cooled can serve areas that need heating. This makes use of heat within the building instead of rejecting all of it outdoors while producing heating separately. The opportunity is greatest when the two demands overlap.

Can a four-pipe system replace an existing boiler and chiller?

It can form the basis of an electric plant upgrade. Review the existing terminal water temperatures, pipe arrangement and controls, then decide whether to replace the plant in one stage or retain a boiler for supplementary or backup heat.

What should we plan for a modular installation?

Allow space for the initial units and future additions, clear airflow paths, maintenance access, water headers, drainage and electrical connections. Coordinate the control sequence so modules work as one plant.

Can the same plant serve fan coils and air-handling units?

Yes, when the coils and water circuits are designed for the selected heating and chilled-water temperatures. A four-pipe arrangement gives the designer separate hot- and chilled-water supplies for terminals serving different zones.

What information helps EXINDA recommend a configuration?

Start with the building location and use, heating and cooling loads, required water temperatures and whether both duties are needed at the same time. For a plant replacement, include a simple description of the existing boiler, chiller and distribution system.
