A Multi-Family Building, One Fuel Source
The Serenio residential complex in Cantù, near Milan, was built to run on electricity only — no gas boiler, no fossil-fuel backup. For the developer, the brief was straightforward: deliver reliable domestic hot water for 20 households, keep the building fully electric, and hold running costs down.
The Installation

Working with EXINDA's Italian distributor Rheon, the engineering team specified two 20 kW units to cover centralized hot water for the entire 20-unit building — one heat pump for every ten households. The system has been running since installation with no gas backup and no capacity shortfall.
Why R290
R290 (propane) has a global warming potential of about 3, among the lowest of any refrigerant in commercial use, which is why it sits at the center of Europe's F-Gas phase-down. Beyond Domestic Hot Water
The same platform used at Serenio also covers space heating and cooling through fan coils, underfloor systems and air handling units, which makes it a fit for offices, hotels, schools and other commercial hydronic projects — not only centralized DHW.
