Heat Pump Silent Mode: How to Schedule Quieter Operation

Heat pump silent mode gives homeowners a straightforward way to reduce operating noise during selected hours. With the updated EXINDA control version, users can set a time period and let the heat pump automatically reduce its operating frequency during that period.

For installers, this provides a practical answer when a customer asks for quieter operation without having to adjust individual parameters repeatedly.

Start with the customer’s preferred quiet hours

Ask when quieter operation matters most. This could be overnight, early in the morning or during another regular period when the outdoor unit is more noticeable.

Use those hours to configure the silent-mode schedule. The setting should follow the household’s routine and heating requirements.

Use the supported heat pump silent mode function

EXINDA’s updated control version provides scheduled silent-mode operation. Once the period is set, the unit applies the frequency reduction automatically.

This means the customer does not need to manually change individual Modbus parameters each time quieter operation is wanted.

For an existing installation, provide the unit identification and controller software version to your EXINDA supply partner. EXINDA can identify the applicable control documentation and help the installer use the correct setting.

What if the installer previously adjusted fan-speed parameters?

Start with the supported silent-mode function rather than treating an individual fan-speed parameter as the complete noise-control solution.

The original question may be about fan speed, but the customer’s actual requirement is quieter operation while maintaining comfortable heating. A scheduled operating mode addresses that requirement through the unit’s control system.

Where a building management system uses Modbus, use the communication document that matches the installed software version.

Check the result with the customer

After setting the schedule:

  • Check that the controller clock and selected hours are correct.
  • Observe the unit entering silent-mode operation.
  • Review the sound at the location where the customer noticed it.
  • Check room comfort and water temperatures during the scheduled period.

If further adjustment is needed, record the operating conditions and discuss them with the local installer or distributor. This gives EXINDA’s technical team useful information for reviewing the product settings.
