Heat Pump Noise Test Lab
In the competitive landscape of the heat pump industry, it is widely acknowledged that consumer demand for low-noise operations is paramount. Recognizing this critical market feedback, Exinda has conducted extensive decibel-level assessments on its air-source heat pumps.
This article will delve into the established standards for acoustic performance and explore the specific measures Exinda has implemented to address consumer concerns about noise emissions.
1. What is the heat pump noise level test standard?
The EN12102 standard, established by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), outlines the protocol for measuring heat pump noise levels. It requires the collection of 14 data points around the prototype, with probe placement determined by the prototype's dimensions, ensuring each is positioned 1 meter from the unit.
This standard, developed by industry experts and regulatory bodies, provides a consistent and accurate framework for assessing sound power levels, facilitating uniform noise emission evaluation across heat pumps.2. What did Exinda do for heat pump noise tests?
Exinda noise level provention
Exinda has focused on improving the noise performance of our heat pumps by modifying the internal structure and incorporating noise reduction and shock absorption materials.
The design includes two layers of insulation: one covering the entire unit and another specifically for the compressor.
For testing, Exinda conducts long-term trials in our lab, covering various working temperature conditions. Engineers monitor these tests in real-time, ensuring accurate data collection.
Results from these tests have shown a measurable decrease in noise levels, with readings often below 65 dBA under standard operating conditions, demonstrating compliance with industry noise standards.

5. Night Silent Heat Pump Mode for Uninterrupted Sleep
Exinda upgrade noise reduction technology
For the low noise request, With Exinda upgrade noise reduction technology and the unique soundproof internal structure design, the sound pressure of Storm Series Air to Water Heat Pump is kept to as low as 38dB(A) at a 2.1-meter distance (Min. Flow).
Night silent mode:
Local time: (21: 00 PM-5: 30AM), enter silent mode
Local time: Before 9:00 PM, run at medium to high frequency to meet the water temperature
6. Improved low noise level to reduce 5dba
Reducing noise levels in heat pumps is crucial for Exinda, as it enhances living comfort, ensures regulatory compliance, offers a competitive market advantage, safeguards health by reducing noise pollution, and aligns with environmental sustainability goals.
Regarding the noise level, we through the below 3 aspects to improvement.
- The compressor
- Upgrade fluid-structure
- Improve noise reduction and shock absorption materials
Our goal is to achieve a sound power level of 59dB for small-capacity heat pumps (6kW, 9kW, 12kW) and 62dB for larger capacity models (15kW, 20kW)
7. Ultra-Low Noise Solutions - Complying with Stringent Europe Noise Regulations
For some countries with stricter low-noise requirements, such as Switzerland and Austria, which focus on low noise not exceeding 55dBA to obtain subsidies, we also have targeted improvement to ultra-low-noise units like NIBE- change the Rotary compressor to Scroll compressor to match the 55dba for subsidy.
The scroll compressors have few moving parts, so they operate more quietly than other compressors. However, the cost is quite high.Rotary is at a reasonable cost, however, it produces more noise during operation. Rotary compressors have more moving parts than scroll compressors and therefore require higher maintenance.
8. The right way to install a heat pump can also reduce noise levels
Don’t directly install the heat pump ground, it should Installed the heat pump with shock absorption function and use the cushion or shock pad.
Do not glue the heat pump to the wall to avoid the propagation of vibrations. A spacing of 40 to 50 cm makes it possible to limit the reverberation of noise on the wall.
